Today I thought I'd share some highlights from our trip to Copenhagen. It was my first time to this beautiful city and even though it was oh so cold (I'd suggest visiting a bit later in the year!), the husband and I had a great time.
KPH is known for two things - its spectacular food and its classic Danish design. I'm pleased to confirm that both reputations are totally deserved. From bars and restaurants, to interiors shops, everything is beautiful to look at and delicious to eat!

The husband and I flew in to Copenhagen ridiculously early on Friday morning and promptly headed into the meat-packing district where we were staying in search of food. Our hosts had suggested a local place, the
Dyrehaven, which turned out to be heavenly. Perfect minimalist Danish design and seriously, the best egg benedict I've ever experienced. Excellent start!
We woke up Saturday morning to snow. Lots of snow! So decided to head to the
Torvehallerne, an indoor food market. This market was stunning, each stall creatively designed and also, the food was fab! The husband and I tried as much as we could - which was just about everything.

Since the snow didn't seem to want to stop, we decided to spend Friday afternoon at the
Glyptoteket museum. Once inside, we walked directly into this beautiful indoor winter garden, it was a total surprise! The contrast of the cold, grey snow outside and this warm, lush green space inside was super cool. The museum itself was mostly comprised of old statues, which whilst lovely, became a little repetitive by room 37. Thankfully however, tucked away at the top of the building were two small rooms filled with impressionist art. Such a find!

On Saturday we had sun! So we headed out on a walking tour. Copenhagen really is a beautiful city with more than 100 parks, loads of lakes and tiny, old cobblestone streets leading to squares filled with majestic buildings.

On Sunday we popped into an old dock house for lunch along the canel. There was a roaring fire, live music and the ubiquitous candle burning on each table. I was totally confused by all the candles - we saw them everywhere! - until we learned that the Danish use them to create an atmosphere of 'coziness' as it helps to cope with the cold. Isn't that sweet?

Finally on Monday we traveled outside of Copenhagen to visit the
Louisiana, a stunning Modern Art Museum. Set on a wind swept beach, the museum complex was a beautiful glass enclosed bungalow. I find modern art to be hit and miss sometimes, but here, I found all the exhibits to be amazing. Definitely worth a visit!
