late night at the zoo

Happy Friday kids! I don't know about you, but somehow these short weeks are almost harder than regular ones. Needless to say, I can not wait for the weekend to begin.

I also can't wait for tonight! We're off to the zoo and seriously, when was the last time you went to the zoo? Every Friday in June and July the zoo is open for its late nights, from 6:30 - 10pm. In addition to seeing the animals, there are Champagne and Pimms bars, BBQs and picnics and even a silent disco and twisted cabaret.

Excellent fun, no?

intrepid explorer

I want to go travel. It's probably the weather and the time of year (I seem to always get twitchy feet at the beginning of summer) but there is something about clear blue skies and long lazy days that gives me a general desire to get out! and about! and do something!

I have a list on my chalkboard of places to visit and in no particular order, here is my list:

India, Tunisa, Jordan, Sri Lanka, Rwanda - I'd love to see the gorillas, Kenya, Copenhagen - to eat at Noma! and New York City - I'm due a trip.

Does that seem ridiculous? Hopefully not too much wishful thinking. I'm a big believer in where there is a will there is a way. And while I figure out the way...I'll be sitting in London daydreaming about where to go next!

I love the idea of a concrete table, but to have one custom made costs a small fortune! I would like to think we could do it ourselves? But the husband thinks differently. 

My favourite currently is the table from Metroretro (which whilst custom made is actually affordable!) and the stunning industrial table from French company Le Grenier. We need to make a decision soon though as it's getting a bit old eating on our couch. Which table would you choose?

Lost in London is a new magazine aimed at us city kids who are looking for aspects of the country in our crazy city-filled lives. If the features are as strong as the cover, this soon might be my most coveted reading.

Is it just me, or does there seem to be a huge amount of fun, new places to check out in London?! Club nights, supper clubs, underground bars, the list is endless. Here are some of the places I'll be checking out this summer...

The Baby Bathhouse, 125 Church Street, N16

Recently opened in Stoke Newington is The Baby Bathhouse. Decorated with skeleton wallpaper and gilded birdcages, this bar promises prohibition era-style cocktails alongside classic American favourites like mac and cheese. Amazing? I hope so.

The Clove Club, Dalston

Private dining club, good food, good music and good fun. Yes?

The Candlelight Club, a secret location

A venue completely lit by candles, a 1920s speakeasy, a one-off bespoke cocktail menu...what more do you want?

can pots be beautiful?

I think yes. Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa believes that in a modern kitchen key items are used time and time again. And I know that with our vast pots collection, I tend to go for the same two cheap Ikea pots every time! So with that concept in mind, Kukasawa created these three pots - beautifully designed, insane quality, and something to use every day. I can't think of anything I want more in my kitchen.
